We embarked on this project in 2016 with the objective to transform orphanages into better living spaces for children, with the help of Drypers Baby Club members. First, we would identify the homes in desperate need of improvement, and then discuss the shortcomings that need to be addressed.
Our ultimate goal is to revamp these home environments so that they are pleasant and conducive spaces where underprivileged children can experience the comfort and care they deserve, and grow up in an environment where they can feel at home. Share A Little Comfort engages compassionate parents to be a part of this purposeful work by donating some of their Drypers Baby Club points as contribution to the cause, or physically volunteer to participate in the actual renovations and refurbishments. We are delighted to say that this programme has grown from strength to strength, with the highest collection of over 3 million points in 2020. To date, we have changed the lives of 768 children in 20 orphanages. During pandemic times, we also collaborated with an NGO in a Covid-19 assistance programme for the underprivileged.
Amongst the improvisation efforts Drypers volunteer team embarked on were repairing cracked floors, walls & leaking roofs, freshly painted old peeling walls, spring cleaned the homes, installed new curtains & assembled electrical appliances contributed by sponsors. To celebrate the newly transformed & refurbished homes, we’ve also painted a Share a Little Comfort “memory wall” mural art for the homes to inject a little vibrancy and colours into the living spaces.
